Diabetic TV star removed from jail and taken to an infectious diseases ward
Rolf Harris has been taken to hospital after allegedly gorging on chocolate.
The former television entertainer is currently serving a near six-year sentence for child sex offences at Stafford prison. The Mirror reports that Harris has been taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital after falling ill.
Singer Vince Hill alleged that the disgraced television entertainer “sort of overdosed on chocolate”, adding that Harris “didn’t know he was eating too much chocolate”.
The Mirror report that Harris was being treated at an infectious diseases ward in the hospital, presumably due to the terms of isolation listed in his jail term.
A Prison Service spokesperson said of reports: “We don’t comment on individuals.” It’s not known whether he is still receiving treatment or has returned to prison.
Harris was jailed in July 2014 after being found guilty of assaulting four young girls between 1968 and 1986. The youngest was just seven or eight years old at the time of the attack.
