Channel 4 confirms plans for new series following recent live special
Chris Evans will present eight new episodes of TFI Friday, according to reports.
Radio Times reports that Channel 4 have commissioned a full series of the chat show following the ratings success of a one-off special earlier this month.
The revivial show saw Chris Evans call for Nick Grimshaw to host the show on a full time basis should it come back. However, Evans will return to the programme he presented between 1996-2000. TFI Friday will return later this year.
The popular ’90s entertainment show returned for a 20th anniversary special on June 12 with guests including Jeremy Clarkson, Ewan McGregor, Lewis Hamilton, Amanda Seyfried, Rita Ora, Nick Grimshaw and Tom Daley.
Music on the night was provided by, among others, Blur and a supergroup fronted by Liam Gallagher and Roger Daltrey. Blur performed ‘Coffee & TV’ with Evans informing the audience that Damon Albarn has lost his voice. Gallagher and Daltrey played alongside The Lightning Seeds’ Ian Broudie and former Oasis members Bonehead and Zak Starkey.
