'Toy Story Of Terror' will be Woody and the gang's first outing since 2010's 'Toy Story 3'

Toy Story is to return next year for a Halloween TV special, Animation World Network has revealed.

Titled Toy Story Of Terror, the spooky special from Pixar Animation Studios will follow Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the gang on a road trip. Things go horribly wrong when they stop off at a roadside motel and one of the toys disappears.

Toy Story Of Terror will be the first time the computer animated crew have starred in a TV special. The Toy Story franchise has previously spawned three feature films, several shorts including 2011’s Hawaiian Vacation, and a cartoon spin-off called Buzz Lightyear Of Star Command.

The pixelated playthings were last seen in 2010’s Toy Story 3, which took over $1.063 billion (£660 million) at the box office worldwide and became the highest-grossing animated movie of all-time. It also won a couple of Oscars.

Last year (2011), Tom Hanks – aka the voice of Woody – confirmed that Toy Story 3 would not be the end of the series, saying: “I think they are trying to do another one. The spirit afoot is to make a fourth.”
