Two ‘Parks And Rec’ stars reunite for new show

A promotional video for the new competition-based programme has been released online

Two stars of Parks And Rec will reunite on a new show this summer.

The NBC mockumentary series bowed out in 2014 after seven seasons. It was set in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana, and followed Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation Leslie Knope and her team.

Amy Poehler, who played Knope, will host NBC’s new crafts competition show Making It alongside fellow Parks And Rec alumni Nick Offerman (the show’s Ron Swanson). The programme will pit contestants against each other with two challenges per episode – one timed, the other themed – in things like painting, woodwork, and metalwork. One contestant will be crowned “Master Maker”.

In a new promo clip, Poehler says: “I like people who make things.” Offerman continues: “And I love to make things, so we’re hosting a new show on NBC where incredibly talented people are going to have a friendly competition.

Making It will premiere on July 31. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Offerman said: “As a woodworker myself, I’m awfully proud to showcase all these talented Makers and be reunited with my charismatic pal Amy to boot. The question is: Is America thready for this? Strap in, our show will be pun-heavy.”

The Parks And Rec cast recently hit back at the NRA for bringing Leslie Knope into the gun control debate. After a town hall meeting between Parkland mass shooting survivors, local politicians, and NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch, the group sent Loesch a thank you message on  Twitter, using a gif of Knope.
