Pair do battle on Corden's chatshow The Late Late Show
James Corden has taken on Usain Bolt in a 100m race for his US chatshow The Late Late Show.
Corden had previewed the race by posting a photo of him on Twitter in an ill-fitting Jamaica running vest next to a confident-looking Bolt, who flashed peace signs to the camera. Corden had boasted: “I destroyed him. He didn’t stand a chance,” to which Bolt responded: “You’ve got jokes, I see.”
In the actual race, broadcast last night (September 27), Bolt and Corden were joined by Owen Wilson and the staff of The Late Late Show to race 100m around the car park where the show is filmed.
Inevitably, nine-times Olympic champion Bolt won, as he showboated metres before crossing the finishing line, while Wilson was disqualified for a false start.
During the interview segment of the show, Bolt let Corden and fellow guests Wilson and The West Wing actress Alison Janney wear some of his Olympic gold medals. Bolt discussed his recent three gold medals at the Rio Olympics, his fear of sharks and his crush on Angelina Jolie.
Corden’s race with Bolt isn’t the only sporting experience the host has had this week. As part of the show’s regular segment in which Corden takes on other people’s job, he has focused on sport this week. On Monday, Corden took over from Arsene Wenger to become Arsenal manager for the day, despite Corden being known as a West Ham fan.
The Late Late Show is broadcast in the UK on Sky On Demand.
