Veep returns to screens in little over a month and a trailer for the upcoming fifth season sees Julia Louis Dreyfus’ President preparing for an election year.

In the promo, which can be seen below, Selina Meyer (Dreyfus) is shown handling with an economic diaster sho serious that expers have started calling it “Black Wednesday”. Hearing the news of that name, Meyer responds: “Jesus, it’s only Wednesday?”

Elsewhere in the preview, fans see the White House team stress out over securing votes at the election while Selina enjoys a tryst with a Wall Street mogul played by John Slattery (Mad Men’s Roger Sterling)

The Thick Of It actor Peter Capaldi joins as director of Veep for two episode in S5 while Armando Iannucci departs as showrunner after four years. The series airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK.

Veep will return to screens on April 24, the same night that new seasons of Game Of Thrones and Sillicon Valley also begin.
