Comedian’s song and dance routine poked fun at the nominated shows
‘Weird’ Al Yankovic took to the stage at last night’s Emmy Awards in Los Angeles with a song and dance routine poking fun at the nominated shows.
The comedian took potshots at HBO hits Game Of Thrones and Mad Men during a bizarre segment that lived up to his name. Host Seth Meyers and comedian Andy Samberg introduced the epic number and joined in with Yankovic adding lyrics to the theme tune parodies.
On a night of backslapping the comedic turn from Yankovic offered light relief but didn’t appear to go down well with Mad Men star Jon Hamm who looked bemused when the camera zoomed in for his reaction.
Breaking Bad was the big winner on the night while BBC 1 drama Sherlock pulled off a surprise hat-trick which included awards for Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.
During the ceremony the late Robin Williams was remembered by fellow actor and comedian Billy Crystal in the Emmys tribute to “the brightest star in the comedy galaxy”.
Yankovic found fame with songs like ‘Eat It’ (his take on Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It’) and more recently with ‘Tacky’, a play on the Pharrell Williams tune ‘Happy’. Watch Yankovic in action at the Emmys below.
