Trump won't be following rival Hillary Clinton in joining Galifianakis for an irreverent interview
Zach Galifianakis has explained why Donald Trump won’t be following Presidential rival
Hillary Clinton in joining him for Between Two Ferns interview.
The actor and comedian resurrected the irreverent interview series last week for a well-received head-to-head with Democratic nominee Clinton. However, he has now dismissed the suggestion that Republican nominee Trump could trade wisecracks with him too.
Asked whether the Trump campaign has been in touch, Galifianakis told the LA Times: “No. That doesn’t interest me. Doing it the other way doesn’t interest me. He’s the kind of guy who likes attention – bad attention or good attention. So you’re dealing with a psychosis there that’s a little weird.”
“I wouldn’t have somebody on that’s so mentally challenged,” Galifianakis added. “I feel like I’d be taking advantage of him. And you can print that.”
The recent comeback episode of Between Two Ferns saw Galifianakis poking fun at both Clinton and Trump. Introduced by a caption as “Hillary Clinton [Had pneumonia]” – referencing the former Secretary of State’s recent health problems – Galifianakis asked if she was “excited to be the first girl President”.
The two also spoke about Clinton’s plans should she lose the election to Trump on November 8 (“So you’re going to lead the Civil War?” enquired Galifianakis), what Trump will wear to the Presidential debates, and if Chelsea Clinton ever consults “her friend” Ivanka Trump about “boys who might have crushes on her… like her dad?”
