Twisted Wheel preview debut album at Leeds Festival

Manchester rockers play rabble-rousing set

Twisted Wheel previewed tracks from their forthcoming debut album at Leeds Festival today (August 24).

The Manchester band played a storming set in the Festival Republic tent, inspiring a stage invasion and large "Wheel" terrace-chants.

The band's yet-to-be-titled debut album is due in early 2009, and fans were treated to a selection of tracks, including 'Strife' and forthcoming new single 'Lucy Is The Castle'.

"You lot gonna have it or what?" singer Johnny Brown asked the crowd as the band swaggered on and opened with 'She's A Weapon', before drenching the crowd with a water bottle.

The band were joined onstage by a fan during set-closer 'You Stole The Sun', meanwhile, who was promptly dragged away by security.

Speaking to NME.COM afterwards, Brown explained that the fan follows the band round at each gig. "She's called Helena, she's sound," he said.

He also boasted that the album will be "the best thing to come out of Manchester for years."

"We've just recorded it in LA with [producer] Dave Sardy, the guitars are sounding massive - almost Oasis-like," he said.
