Two Door Cinema Club: 'Lady Gaga is giving exposure to indie bands'

Singer Alex Trimble hails Gaga for plumping for 'lesser known acts' for remixes

Two Door Cinema Club's Alex Trimble has claimed that Lady Gaga has helped give "exposure" to indie bands.

Yesterday, the Northern Irish group's remix of Gaga's track 'Electric Chapel' surfaced online, with Trimble insisting that he and his bandmates couldn't turn down the chance to work with the 'Born This Way' star.

With Two Door Cinema Club's remix following Wild Beast's reworking of Gaga's 'You And I' from last August, Trimble told NME that he was pleased the pop star had chosen to work with "lesser known acts" rather than established mainstream names.

He said:

It was a really nice thing to see that she was getting a lot of indie artists to remix her stuff. I thought if she was doing a remix album she'd have people like David Guetta or Tiesto, so it's nice that she's taking lesser known acts and independent artists, and is giving them exposure.

When asked if it surprised him to think that Gaga was a fan of his band, meanwhile, he replied: "Yeah, I do think it's odd. At the end of the day she's just another human being, but she's name that almost everyone over the world knows. She's such a huge phenomenon, so it's strange to think that somebody like that would be listening to a band like us."

Two Door Cinema Club released their debut album 'Tourist History' in 2010, and are set to hit the road with Metronomy, Tribes and Azealia Banks for this year's NME Awards Tour.

The tour will kick off at O2 Academy Glasgow on February 8, before taking in dates at Newcastle, Manchester, Nottingham, Leeds, Norwich, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol and Bournemouth and culminating at O2 Academy Brixton on February 25.
