Two Door Cinema Club working with 'big name producer' on second album Two Door Cinema Club Tickets
Alex Trimble also confirms the band will be debuting new songs on the NME Awards Tour
The band head out on the NME Awards Tour this week, playing alongside Metronomy, Tribes and Azealia Banks, but are also in the middle of writing and recording their second record.
Speaking to NME earlier today (February 6) after they had played a short acoustic set for an invited group of fans, frontman Alex Trimble said that the band had secured a big name to produce the follow-up to their debut LP 'Tourist History', but that he was remaining tight-lipped on who it was, despite internet rumours strongly suggesting that it will be R.E.M/U2 producer Jacknife Lee.
Asked who was producing their second album and whether the band had opted for a bigger set-up this time round, Trimble said:
I can't tell you, it's still under wraps. It's a big name though. He's quite a big producer, but his studio is just next to his house, there's no huge mixing desk, so it's really relaxed and a great place to be.
Trimble also gave an update on the band's progress with the album and said that the Irish trio had recorded four full tracks during sessions in Los Angeles. He said: "We've been in the studio for a couple of weeks now. We've got four tracks done and we're heading back after the NME Tour for another two months and we'll get as much done as we can."
The singer also said the band would be playing three new tracks live on the NME tour, which, at present, will be included on their new studio album.
He said of this: "There's three songs that we have played live before and we will be playing again on the tour. We're still writing and we've got 16 or 17 songs done, so, at the moment they'll be on the record, but they might not be".
Trimble also spoke about how much the band were looking forward to the tour and, in particular, playing with Metronomy. He said of this: "I'm a massive fan of Metronomy, I can't wait to play with them. As for Tribes and Azealia Banks, I haven't heard their music or met them yet."
