Two Door Cinema Club have announced that they have nearly finished the recording of their second album.

The Northern Irish trio are currently in LA working on the follow-up to 2010's award-winning debut album, 'Tourist History', with R.E.M, U2 and Weezer producer Jacknife Lee.

The band made the announcement via their Official Twitter page, after fans bombarded the group with questions asking when the album would be completed.

They tweeted:

The message was met with an enthusiastic response from their fans who replied back to the band with their support. One excited fan, @undercovernall, wrote: "OMGSH Yes ThankYou I Love You". While another fan simply replied, "I can't wait to hear all the new songs".

Earlier this year, frontman Alex Trimble told NME that the band had a barrel of songs that were contenders to appear on the new album, but a number of them would have to be cut. He told us: "We've got 16 or 17 songs done, so, at the moment they'll be on the record, but they might not be."

During the band's triumphant headline slot at this year's NME Awards Tour, they played three new songs from the new album sessions. However, it is unclear whether 'Handshake', 'This Is Moon' and 'Sleep Alone' will make the final cut.

The band are set to appear at a number of festivals over the summer, including high profile slots at T In The Park and Reading And Leeds festivals.
