Two Door Cinema Club, Goldie Lookin Chain and The Twang play at celebrity soccer event

Watch Goldie Lookin Chain's the Maggot explain his team tactics for the Welsh rappers too

Two Door Cinema Club, Reverend And The Makers and The Twang laced up their boots for a celebrity six-a-side tournament at Leyton Orient FC's football ground yesterday (May 13).

The Indie Soccer Six event, which was held in aid of the charity Lovefootball Family to help raise money and awareness for cardiac issues, specifically those in football. It saw ex-The Music frontman Rob Harvey take part with the team This Feeling, and former Aston Villa centre back Ugo Ehiogu join the band Little Comets.

The bands fought hard in the early stages but both Two Door Cinema Club and Reverend And The Makers failed to reach the knock out stages.

Two Door bassist Kevin Baird told NME:

We didn’t do so well in the group stages and went into the play offs for the quarters but the bloody Twang muscled us out of it. But it was a good laugh doing something like this for charity.

Goldie Lookin Chain, who had Maggot at the helm as manager, also suffered at the hands of The Twang in the quarter finals. Scroll down and click below to watch a video of the Newport star explaining his team tactics in the tournament.

The Twang eventually went on to the final where they lost 2-1 to new band The Milk. The Birmingham band's frontman Phil Etheridge commented afterwards: "We were disappointed to lose the final but there was no magic in that game, we were fucking useless."

The Milk's frontman Rick Nunn was delighted with his band’s victory in the final. He added: "We're over the moon. It's the first time we've ever done one of these and it was great. We played The Twang early on in the tournament and they beat us, so the final was a bit of a grudge match. But it was the team spirit that did it for us and it was a proper Hollywood ending."

The event has been running since 1995 and has in the past seen Oasis, Blur, Pete Doherty, Pulp and Kasabian take part.
