Two Door Cinema Club bring new song 'Changing Of The Seasons' to V Festival in Essex
Meanwhile, Jessie Ware duets with Katy B at Chelmsford leg of the weekend-long bash
Before the Bangor band launched into the song, frontman Alex Trimble told the crowd gathered at the Main Stage: "We've been practising it really hard and thought, 'Where better to play it live for the first time?'." The single, produced by French nu-house specialist Madeon, is set to be released as a part of a three-track EP on September 30.
Speaking to NME after the band's set, Trimble admitted: "It was a really weird experience to play it at last, as we wrote it over a year ago." He also teased that the other two tracks on the forthcoming EP will "really surprise" people, saying: "They're even more of a departure for us. One of the songs is called 'Crystal' and is vastly different: it has no drums, guitars or conventional instruments on it."
Two Door Cinema Club played:
'This is The Life'
'Changing of the Seasons'
'Come Back Home'
'I Can Talk'
'Something Good Can Work'
'What You Know'
Also discussing new material backstage were Of Monsters And Men, whose afternoon set on the 4Music Stage included fan favourites 'Little Talk' and 'Your Bones'. "This is one of our last shows before we go home after 18 months of solid touring,” singer Nanna Hilmarsdottir said. "Which is when we start to think about the next record. We've lost a keyboard player since 'My Head Is An Animal' and we've changed our sound a lot since then, so it'll be really different. I've been listening to a lot of Grimes recently but I don't know if it'll necessarily be dancier."
Elsewhere, The Fratellis drew a large crowd when they kicked off proceedings on the Main Stage, before Jessie Ware joined Katy B to perform duet 'Aaliyah' during the 'On A Mission' singer's set on the Arena Stage, which also included a rendition of the latter's new single '5am'.
Essex Police, meanwhile, are reporting 26 arrests at the Chelmsford leg of the festival so far for drug possession (20), drug-dealing (1), drink-driving (2), theft (2) and rowdy and disorderly behaviour (1).
V Festival continues tonight with performances from The Script, Ocean Colour Scene and a headline set from Beyonce.
