Flying Lotus and Tyler, The Creator have both his out against the YouTube Awards.

The inaugural awards will take place next month (November) and will be live streamed around the world on the video sharing site.

Flying Lotus accused the awards of failing to promote innovation in music, instead just highlighting big acts.

"Seems like the YouTube music awards are pretty much the same as the VMAs. I don't really see the point," the rapper and producer wrote on Twitter. "If it's all about hits sure I get it but let's be fair. YouTube award nominations clearly don't care about cutting edge/innovation. They had an opportunity to shine a light on all the artists that they helped to gain notoriety just to shit on them for uber famous acts. No disrespect to the nominees yadda yadda"

Tyler, The Creator meanwhile, who is set to perform at the awards, tweeted: "YouTube Awards could've fucking had nominations on cool creative videos shit but noooo again it's the most teeny bopper pop shit. You are butt." He added: "Why not give awards to just directors. These fucking weak ass artists don't come up with these shots or sit in colouring. Fuck them they suck."

The first ever YouTube Awards will take place on November 3 at Pier 36 in New York. Jason Schwartzman, known for roles in Rushmore and The Darjeeling Limited, will host while Where The Wild Things Are director Spike Jonze will act as creative director for the show. The 90-minute ceremony will see six awards handed out as well as the live performances with all winners voted for by YouTube users.

Arcade Fire, Eminem, Lady Gaga, MIA, Tyler, The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt have been confirmed as performers at the ceremony.
