U2 joined onstage by punk legend

U2 were joined onstage by punk icon Patti Smith during their show in New York earlier this week (November 21).

The two joined forces for a version of John Lennon’s ‘Instant Karma!’ in the encore at Madison Square Garden.

Smith also appeared onstage with REM earlier this year, performing ‘E-Bow The Letter’ with them in London’s Hyde Park.

U2, whose US tour goes on till December 19, also played a snippet of The Clash’s ‘Rock The Casbah’.
