Band ask fans to "hunt the lyrics"

U2 are to launch a worldwide lyric hunt competition on their website.

The prize is a chance to win an all expenses paid trip to see U2 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu on December 9.

To win, fans must locate banners featuring short lyrical excerpts from the band’s new album ’U218’, are hidden on a variety of websites across the globe. The sites will be listed at U2.com

Each lyric will have one letter highlighted and fans will be asked to collect all the letters. Once collected the website will ask fans to use the letters collected to answer a question.

The winner will be announced on November 6.

The band's new album ’U218’ will be released on November 20 and will feature tracks spanning U2’s career from 1980’s ’Boy’ to 2004’s ’How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’.

The album also features two new tracks recorded with producer Rick Rubin including the single they recorded with Green Day, ’The Saints Are Coming’.
