Controversial U2/Green Day video surfaces online

Bands take a pop at the US Government
The controversial video for U2’s single collaboration with Green Day has surfaced online.
The promo for ‘The Saints Are Coming’ can be viewed at Youtube.com and contains footage of New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
There then follows fake US TV reports showing hundreds of aeroplanes flying into the disaster area with headlines such as ‘US Iraq troops redeployed to New Orleans’.
The video ends with a sign stating ‘Not as seen on TV’.
As previously revealed, all proceeds from the single go towards the victims of the 2005 disaster.
The track, which is a cover version of a song by Scottish punks The Skids, appears on U2’s forthcoming Best Of compilation ‘U218 Singles’.
The album, out on November 20, features 16 of the band’s classic singles, plus the single and another new track, ‘Window In The Skies’.

'U218 Singles' will be released on CD and 12” vinyl and as a full-length DVD featuring the single promo videos. The collection will also be available as a limited edition CD with a bonus DVD of ten tracks recorded live in Milan, Italy on the Vertigo//05 tour.
