U2 perform 8am set at New York college

Irish legends play six songs at Fordham University

U2 performed six songs for students at Fordham University early this morning, as part of their weeklong New York-based promotional blitz for their new album.

‘No Line On The Horizon’ was released on Tuesday (March 3) and among the band’s attempts to shine on a light on the release were a week-long residency at The Late Show With David Letterman and the renaming of 53rd Street as U2 Way for a week.

This morning’s set which saw them play single ‘Get On Your Boots’, and two more new tracks - ‘Magnificent’ and ‘I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight’- was televised for the Good Morning America TV show.

“I joined a rock and roll band so I could get out of going to college,” Bono told the packed crowd, comprised of students from the university.

After a short break, the band returned to the stage to play three more tracks.
