U2's troubled musical 'Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark' has been delayed yet again.

Sunday night (February 6) saw critics attend what was thought to be the Broadway production's final preview before opening.

But technical issues on the night now mean the show will not launch to the public until at least March 15. This time, lead actor Reeve Carney was left dangling over the audience in the final scene, according to Fox New York.

Carney apparently veered slightly off-mark, leading the flying system to be automatically stopped as part of in-built safety protocols.

A spokesman for the production, for which U2's Bono and The Edge have written music for, issued a statement insisting that the show is making good progress. "With a show as technically ambitious as this one, you need time and performances to perfect it," they said. "Technical glitches are just that. They are unexpected, but a part of any extraordinary undertaking such as this."

The production is thought to be the most expensive musical in history, costing over $65 million (£42 million) to produce, with over $1 million (£650,000) a week in running costs.

It has been plagued with problems, delays and cast injuries for months now.

Last month it was delayed again, reportedly to cater for a new ending. Producers had insisted that this delay would be the final one before opening.

Shortly before, lead actress Natalie Mendoza quit the production after she was injured, having been hit on the head with a cable backstage.

Before that stunt performer Christopher Tierney was injured after falling 20 feet during another preview performance.

In the light of this latest delay Broadway critics are planning to break with tradition and review the show before press night.
