U2's Bono and The Edge have released a new track taken from their American Idol performance.

The pair appeared on the finale of the talent show on Wednesday (May 27) backed by 'Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark' star Reeve Carney to perform new track 'Rise Above 1', which features in the Broadway production.

Bono recently admitted he agreed with reviews of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark which described the show as "among the worst" musicals ever made.

The musical suffered a series of mishaps before it was revamped including injuries to cast members and financial difficulties.

U2's Bono and The Edge have scored the soundtrack to the Broadway production.

Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark is reportedly the most expensive show in Broadway history, with a cost so far of $70 million (£48 million).
