According to an investigation by US publication Billboard, U2's next album has been pushed back to 2015.

Following recent appearances at the Golden Globes and the release of new tracks 'Ordinary Love' and 'Invisible', which was downloaded for free three million times, speculation mounted that the band were gearing up to release their next album this year .

Billboard reports that the band have recently scheduled additional sessions with producers Ryan Tedder (of the band OneRepublic) and Paul Epworth (Adele), who join the project's main producer Danger Mouse.

A source tells Billboard: "It seems to be taking longer for them to finish an album as they get older, but the great thing about U2 is that the whole of a record is always better than the sum of its parts. That magic that the band always seems to capture ... they have yet to capture it."

The magazine also found that a tour initially planned for September, booked by Live Nation's Global Touring division, will now start in summer 2015. An Interscope representative says the album cannot be considered delayed as a release date was never announced.
