V Festival 2007 kicks off at Weston Park

The 2007 V Festival has kicked off at the Weston Park site in Staffordshire this afternoon (August 18).

The northern leg of this year’s event got underway with folk rockers Rodrigo Y Gabriela playing to a growing crowd on the V Stage.

Despite the relentless rain and wind, a hardy bunch of fans braved the elements for the duo – who supported Muse and Wembley Stadium in June – as they mixed traditional Spanish guitars with noisy percussion rapped out on their instruments.

The Mexican pair are now set to play the festival for a second time today, taking over from the ill Bright Eyes by dashing down to Chelmsford to headline the Virgin Mobile Union stage.

The pair played:

'Diablo Rojo'
'Orion'
'Foc'
'Stairway To Heaven'
'Tamacun'
