Vampire Weekend for Barack Obama college benefit
Band support Democrat in forthcoming election
The event is a Free Voter Registration Concert sponsored by the Students for Barack Obama at Carnegie Melon University, and will be open to the public and all ages.
The purpose of the concert is to ensure that everyone who can vote in the upcoming election is registered and if they are already registered, that their current registration is correct and up-to-date to prevent disenfranchisement at the polls, says the band on their MySpace page.
And the New Yorkers voiced their support for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama in the upcoming election.
"For us, the choice in this election is incredibly clear. We support Barack Obama because on every issue we care about he is more logical, more sensitive, and less biased than John McCain. It's important to talk openly about voting and we're happy that we can contribute to the campaign, not only as individuals, but as a band."
The event will take place at the College of Fine Arts Lawn, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA at 4pm this Saturday.
