Vampire Weekend failed to scare off the rain despite their sunshine-filled lyrcis as they played on T In The Park's Main Stage this afternoon (July 10).

With the site hit by inclement weather all afternoon, the New York quartet opened with 'Holiday', the latest single from their second album 'Contra', which seemed practically ironic with its "to go away on a summer's day never seemed so clear" lyrics.

The band first played the festival in 2008, in the King Tut's Wah Wah Hut Tent and despite the damp conditions, where clearly happy to be back as the crowd sung along not only to their words, but in the case of 'Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa', their guitar rifts.

Unfortunately for the crowd, the line, "Look outside, the rain has gone" from former single 'A-Punk' then failed to have any bearing on the weather, as they were drizzled on for the rest of the band's set.

However, that didn't stop Koenig from enjoying himself, telling the damp crowd "It's great to be back here, it's so beautiful!" as the band wrapped up their slot with a loud singalong to 'Walcott'.

Vampire Weekend played:

'Holiday'
'White Sky'
'Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa'
'M79'
'California English'
'Cousins'
'Run'
'A-Punk'
'One'
'Giving Up The Gun'
'Horchata'
'Campus'
'Oxford Comma'
'Walcott'
