Vampire Weekend are about to kick off their biggest UK headline tour to date – starting at Blackpool's Empress Ballroom tonight (November 25).

Frontman Ezra Koenig told NME that he wasn't phased by playing venues of this size, and said he hoped the tour would be "special" because of the support acts they've booked.

The band have signed up Laura Marling and Janelle Monae, plus Ratatat, to play across various dates on the tour.

"No, I mean, we're ready," Koenig said, when asked if he found the prospect of the shows daunting. "We've played in London so many times and in progressively larger venues that it just feels great."

They are set to play two shows at the UK capital's Alexandra Palace venue to close the tour on December 2 and 3.

"We're just doing our thing," he added. "Hopefully we'll just bring it. The openers are something pretty special. It's a pretty strong bill. Much of our whole world is centred in London and the UK. It's one of the most important cities for music on the planet."
