Vampire Weekend have debuted a new, untitled song which could appear on their forthcoming new album.

The New York band premiered the track, which you can listen to below, during their show at Cleveland's House Of Blues earlier this week (July 12). The song, with its African-style guitars, skittering percussion and delicate harmonies, is reminiscent of the material from their 2008 self-titled album.

The track, which is currently being referred to as 'New Song#2', is seemingly one of the new songs that the band have been working on as they prepare to put the finishing touches to their third studio album.

Last month (June 30), frontman Ezra Koenig admitted that working on the new LP - which will be the follow-up to their 2010 effort 'Contra' - had been a "long process" but hinted that they were nearing completion on the record.

"We always try to write and record at the same time," he said. "So we've always got some ProTools session demo that tends to actually turn into the finished product. I think we have 80 per cent of the songs now."

Previously, meanwhile, Koenig hinted that the as-yet-untitled new album could be released later this year, but added: "I always want to release music as soon as possible, but more and more I'm realising it's something you almost have no control over." The band, who released their self-titled debut album in 2008, are set to play at the Pitchfork music festival tomorrow (July 15).
