Van Halen 'Guitar Hero' on its way

Veteran rockers get their own version of popular video game

Van Halen 'Guitar Hero' on its way

A new version of the popular video game 'Guitar Hero' featuring Van Halen is due to be released later this year.

Activision is currently developing 'Guitar Hero: Van Halen', which is due out in the latter half of 2009 and will allow users to play Van Halen's greatest hits as well as songs by Weezer, Queen, The Offspring and Queens Of The Stone Age, reports Spin.

The company has not yet confirmed which members of Van Halen will be avatars in the game, but when asked if the game would feature David Lee Roth or his successor Sammy Hagar, an Activision representative responded, "This is definitely Van Halen, not Van Hagar."

'Guitar Hero: Van Halen' follows on the heels of the popular Aerosmith and Metallica versions of the video game.
