Electric Proms 2008: who do you want?

Over the last week, Camden has seen an array of gigs featuring special guests and collaborations galore for the second year of the BBC Electric Proms.

Editors kicked off the Proms (October 24), joined by a string quartet.

Elsewhere on the opening night Noel Gallagher joined The Coral to jam on the band’s 'In The Rain’ (October 24) and Mark Ronson brought the funk to Camden with a set featuring guest vocalists including Ricky Wilson and Kyle Falconer from The View, while Siouxsie Sioux paid tribute to John Peel on the BBC’s annual John Peel Day.

Paul McCartney wheeled out his solo and Beatles hits at the Roundhouse (October 25), joined by a string section.

The same night also saw The Enemy tearing up the Barfly, joined by Hadouken!.

Reverend And The Makers took the music outside on Friday night (October 26) to busk in the street, while Kaiser Chiefs teamed up with James Bond composer David Arnold and an orchestra at the Roundhouse.

On Saturday night (October 27), Bloc Party debuted their new single, ‘Flux’, on English soil, joined by a twenty-strong choir.

Edwyn Collins returned to live action last night (October 28) at The Barfly following his life-threatening medical problems.

Before Kinks legend Ray Davies was joined by Johnny Borrell for a run through of ‘Sunny Afternoon’ to finish the event off.


With speculation that the Electric Proms could move to Liverpool in 2008 to coincide with its status as European Capital of Culture, we want to hear your ideas on what the BBC should put on.
