Jack White's 'Cold Mountain' director passes away

Anthony Minghella was 54

Oscar-winning British film director Anthony Minghella has died aged 54 (March 18).

Most celebrated for directing films such as 'The English Patient', 'Cold Mountain' and 'Truly, Madly, Deeply', the director worked with a large number of distinguished figures including Ralph Fiennes and Nicole Kidman.

He also gave The White Stripes' Jack White his first break on the big screen, casting him as a musician in the 2003 movie'Cold Mountain'.

The current cause of Minghella's death is unknown, reports BBC News.
