Legendary New York post-punk band to reform
No Wave icons will only play two shows
Legendary New York no wave band Teenage Jesus And The Jerks are to reform for two one-off shows in June.
The confrontational group, who recorded only a handful of songs during their original three-year existence, play New York's Knitting Factory at 8pm and 11pm on June 13.
The gigs are being held to celebrate the release of the book 'No Wave: Post-Punk. Underground. New York. 1976-1980', a dissection of the infamous avant-garde punk scene, written by Byron Coley and Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore.
The Bad Seeds and Grinderman member Jim Sclavunos, who played with the band in the late 70s, will reportedly play drums, while a 'lost member' will join them on bass - most likely to be Japanese bassist Reck.
Led by Lydia Lunch, Teenage Jesus And The Jerks have been a strong influence on many bands, most prominently Sonic Youth, who have collaborated with Lunch on a number of songs, including 1985 single 'Death Valley 69'.
