American Idol winner inducted into legendary radio show

Carrie Underwood has joined the cast of the legendary country music radio show the Grand Ole Opry.

Former ‘American Idol’ winner Underwood, who has forged a hugely successful career since winning the show in 2005 was inducted into the cast of the long-running radio show on Saturday by fellow country singer Garth Brooks.

Underwood then performed a duet with Vince Gill and thanked the Opry for making her a part of such an institution

"This really seems like a great family to be part of, I promise I'll do everything I possibly can to not make you regret it," says Variety.

The Grand Old Opry was started in 1925m and former and current members include all the country greats including Patsy Cline, Hank Williams Senior and Dolly Parton.

The show airs every Friday and Saturday night.

It's bad enough that country has gone to the garbage they have in the last 10 years. What happened to true country, not this screaming, porno looking singers, can't even understand half of what they are saying? All of them need to pedal their "bull elk in heat" sound to a different genre and leave country alone. Bring back Loretta, George Jones and the like. There are still enough of us old folks that like to hear true singers, so that we don't have to turn our radios off because the so called country stations is playing this garbage.

Shame on the Opry. Shame on the people that voted this is even close to Country music instead of yelling. Get back to the true Country.

Shame on Opry and the voters. This is screaming, not singing and NOT Country. Get back where it belongs. The people that like this NEW country will follow and bring back true country. Shame on you.
