Performing Rights Society publish Top Ten of the last five years

Daniel Powter's 'Bad Day' is the most played song in the UK over the last five years.

The Canadian singer beat Kelly Clarkson's 'Because Of You' into second place in the Performing Rights Society's chart.

Plays on TV, radio, websites and in venues were used to collate the chart.

Other notable entries include James Blunt's 'You're Beautiful' at Number Three and Snow Patrol's 'Chasing Cars' at Number Five.

Singles by Will Young and Gwen Stefani were at Number Nine and Ten respectively.

2. Kelly Clarkson - 'Because Of You'
3. James Blunt - 'You're Beautiful'
4. Scissor Sisters - 'I Don't Feel Like Dancin''
5. Snow Patrol - 'Chasing Cars'
6. Maroon 5 - 'This Love'
7. Take That - 'Shine'
8. Corinne Bailey Rae - 'Put Your Records On'
9. Will Young - 'Leave Right Now'
10. Gwen Stefani - 'The Sweet Escape'
