Steve Foley, drummer for The Replacements during the latter part of their career, has died of an apparent drug overdose at the age of 49.
Foley died in Minneapolis after accidentally overdosing on prescription medication his sister, Colleen Foley, told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
His body was discovered by co-workers at his home on Monday (August 25) after he failed to show up for his job as a car salesman.
Foley played with The Replacements from 1990-1991. He once told Replacements biographer Jim Walsh that the experience "will always be a treasure in my mind".
"Some days I walk down the street and go, 'God, I was in that fucking band?' Unbelievable. It is," he said.
