UK Music Hall Of Fame axed

Lack of money means no more ceremonies

The UK Music Hall Of Fame - which currently includes Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and The Beatles - is to be axed.

The yearly ceremony was started in 2004 by Channel Four, but last year no-one was inducted because of funding problems.

Music legends including John Peel, Elvis Presley and The Rolling Stones have become members since its launch.

However, The Sun reports that Channel Four are now shutting the doors on the Hall Of Fame for good.

Good. It was just another B-League statement from mainstream Britain which looked incredibly ordinary in comparison to the Hollywood original. Why can't the UK find their own way of commemorating great musicians, and not have to make some desparate attempt to copy the American way of doing things? Honestly, did the likes of Queen and The Beatles honestly give a fudge about being inducted into something as appallingly contrived as Channel 4's music hall of fame?

Its like pete townshend said when the who were 'inducted' - 'this doesnt actually mean anything'.It was a cheap channel 4 stunt that should never have been given any kind of patronage by any musicians. The real hall of fame has a grace which can never be aped- look at classic inductions of the beatles, blondie etc.- its full of emotion, tears and passion that this channel 4 catastrophe didnt even touch.Im glad that this is over. Whoever dreamt up the idea should be put in jail for even attempting it- channel 4 should stick to what they know- tmobile transmission etc. Cheap rubbish music tv that always ends up being cancelled after a couple of years.
