MySpace to launch iPod rival?

Chief executive says a new MP3 player could be on the way

MySpace chief executive Chris DeWolfe has hinted that the company may be set to develop an MP3-playing device designed to rival the Apple iPod.

When asked at the Web 2.0 summit in San Francisco earlier this month whether such a device might be launched, DeWolfe said, "It's possible", reports Techradar.com.

De Wolfe didn't elaborate on any plans, however, instead attempting to shift focus onto the recently-launched MySpace Music service. "Right now we're just focusing on a service," he said.

Speaking about MySpace Music in relation to MP3 players, DeWolfe said: "We wanted to come up with a program that meets the needs of music companies and artists, by definition, and users.

"If anything, we'll be [helping] iPod sales… unless we develop a device."

Oh Jesus Christ in the Space Shuttle. As if this shitwad of a company would have any inkling on how to challenge Apple's behemoth. I have Macs that are older and more relevant than Mywaste.
