Music retailer will be cutting 353 jobs

Music retailer Zavvi is set to close a further 18 of its UK stores, following the news last week (January 8) that the retail chain would close 22 of its branches.

Zavvi is currently in administration following the collapse of distribution company Entertainment UK last month.

BBC News reports that 353 jobs will be lost as a result of the latest round of closures.

One of the stores set to close is the large London Piccadilly Circus store.

Tom Jack, of administrators Ernst And Young said, "Despite having received in excess of 70 expressions of interest, we have not received any offers for the store portfolio as a whole.

"Consequently, with reducing stock levels, we have had to manage the cost base of the business and close a further 18 stores."

Zavvi has not been the only retailer hit hard by the collapse of Entertainment UK. The Woolworths store chain recently closed down after being placed in administration.

The branches set to close as a result of the new announcement are:

Basingstoke
Belfast Castlecourt
Cambridge
Cheshire Oaks Outlet Village
Crawley
Londonderry
Edinburgh Gyle
Gateshead
Glasgow Argyle St
Grimsby
Hull
Newry
Newtownabbey
Piccadilly Tower (London)
Romford
