BBC Trust launches review of Radio 2 and 6Music

Members of the public are encouraged to give their opinions on the stations

The BBC Trust is today (May 7) launching a full-scale review of BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6Music.

Setting out to assess the stations' performances, the review also aims to find out whether licence payers are getting the most out of each radio service.

The Trust is asking members of the public to give their opinions on the two stations. The public consultation will be open to people for the next 12 weeks. See BBC.co.uk/bbctrust for details.

The review will not examine issues such as presenters' wages or the Jonathan Ross/Russell Brand 'Sachsgate' affair. A separate review into 'Sachsgate', which saw the presenters leave lewd phone messages on actor Andrew Sachs' answerphone during a Radio 2 broadcast, took place in 2008.

The BBC Trust is the governing body of the BBC. It aims to carry out an in-depth review of each of the BBC's services at least once every five years.
