Man says he shot rapper Dolla in self-defence

The man charged with shooting dead Dolla earlier this week has reportedly told police that he shot the rapper in self-defence.

Dolla, whose real name is Roderick Anthony Burton II, was shot in the parking lot at the Beverly Center shopping mall on May 18 while waiting in line for the valet.

According to allhiphop.com, Howard R. Price, lawyer for 23-year-old Aubrey Louis Berry, said that he shot the man out of fear for his own life after an altercation at an Atlanta nightclub a few weeks ago.

The pair accidentally met again at a Los Angeles restaurant and Burton reportedly threatened Berry in the restroom. Price said that the rapper was connected to the Crips gang.

Berry was apprehended at Los Angeles International Airport on Monday evening (May 18) and was charged with murder and two assault charges. Following the charges, his bail was increased to $5 million. He is scheduled to enter his plea in court tomorrow (May 22).
