Sony to join new music video site Vevo

Record label will join Universal on forthcoming service

The Sony record label has announced it will be joining Vevo, a new music video website founded by Universal and YouTube, which will be launching later this year.

The news means that the music and videos of Sony artists, including Kings Of Leon, Bruce Springsteen and Beyonce, should all be available through the Vevo service.

Record labels Warner and EMI are also currently in talks about joining Vevo.

Vevo will have its own site, but also run a channel on YouTube, sharing the money from the adverts with the labels who sign up.

There are also plans for the site to offer downloads, merchandise and gig tickets, reports Yahoo.
