Jonathan Ross to get award for 'services to music broadcasting'

BBC presenter bags Music Industry Trusts' Award

Jonathan Ross has been named as the recipient of the 18th Music Industry Trusts' Award, which is given annually to an influential figure in the music industry.

Ross, who last year won the Sony Gold Award for Music Radio Personality of the Year, has been presenting his show on BBC Radio 2 for almost 10 years, giving exposure to new and established artists alike.

David Munns, chairman of the award committee said: "For over two decades Jonathan Ross has been an important part of the UK music landscape, and has provided valuable support in challenging times."

Ross will receive the award at a ceremony in London's Grosvenor House on November 2. The charity event will be raising money for Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy and The Brit Trust.

Sir George Martin, Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin and the late Ahmet Ertegun, the man who signed Led Zeppelin, have all received the award. In 2007 Kylie Minogue was named as the first ever female recipient of the gong.
