iPhone 3.0 update set to bring new music features

New iPhone software should be available to download in the UK sometime between 5pm and 7.30pm (BST) this evening (June 17).

The 3.0 firmwear update brings with it over 100 new features, including a number of changes which should make listening to music on the popular phone easier.

Finding a certain part in a music file will now be more precise, with 'half-speed', 'quarter-speed' and 'fine scrubbing' modes available on the audio file's time line.

The Spotlight feature, as well as letting you search for contacts, apps and email, will also let you search for songs.

Users will also be able to access iTunes to buy more than single songs, rather than having to use iTunes on their desktops as before - this applies to movies, TV shows, music videos and audiobooks, reports Read Write Web.

The software update is set to be free, reports The Telegraph.
