Seeds singer Sky Saxon dies

Vocalist passes away in Texas hospital

The Seeds' lead singer Sky Saxon has died.

According to his publicist, Saxon passed away yesterday (June 25), AP reports.

The singer, who was born in 1946, fell ill last week and was taken to hospital in Austin, Texas.

The Seeds had a hit in 1967 with 'Pushin' Too Hard'. In 2008 he collaborated with The Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan, before he recently moved to Texas, and was playing with a new band called Shapes Have Fangs.

Personally speaking, this means much more to me than Jacko. RIP Sky, you were a true garage-punk before the phrase had been thought of. also, the Glasgow gig in 2004 proved he could still cut it live.on separate note, well done supposedly 'alternative' NME for taking about 2 days to realise he'd died.
