Winners of 'Road To V' contest announced

New acts to join Oasis and The Killers at V Festival 2009
V Festival have announced two up-and-coming acts who will open this year's festivals.

The Last Republic and Underline The Sky have won this year's Road To V contest, after playing sets at Brighton's The Great Escape event in May ahead of The Charlatans and Just Jack, who have mentored this year's entrants.

Underline the Sky will play Chelmsford on the Saturday (August 22) and Stafford the next day, with The Last Republic going the opposite way.

V Festival takes place between August 22 and 23 at sites in Chelmsford and Staffordshire.
