Prince Harry to appear at BRIT Awards 2010

Royal praises awards for raising money for BRIT Trust

Prince Harry is to become the first member of the British Royal Family to appear at the BRIT Awards.

Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana's youngest son is set to deliver a video message at the 2010 ceremony on February 16.

In the clip, which will be aired at the Earls Court venue in London and on television broadcasts of the event, the Prince is set to praise the awards and the BRIT Trust, which helps fund the BRIT School in Croydon.

"The BRITs is a celebration of all that is totally outstanding and unique about British music," he says in the message. "And what’s less well known about the BRIT Awards is the fantastic work it does raising millions of pounds for the BRIT Trust, which has benefited thousands of young people to develop their talents and generally enrich our society."

Lily Allen, Lady Gaga, Robbie Williams, Florence And The Machine and La Roux are among the acts nominated for BRITs this year.
