Amnesty campaign had been launched for information

Iranian music journalist Kayvan Farzin released from detention
Iranian music journalist Kayvan Farzin has been released from detention in the country following his arrest in January.

Farzin, who worked for music magazine Farhang va Ahang along with fellow music journalist Behrang Tonekaboni and his mother Lily Farhadpour, were arrested in Tehran by Iranian authorities without explanation.

Tonekaboni was released earlier this month, with Amnesty reporting that Farzin and Farhadpour have now been released, the former reportedly on $70,000 (£45,000) bail.

Amnesty had launched a campaign for information about their detainment. A high number of journalists and protesters have been arrested and reportedly subjected to torture since the country's disputed presidential election of June 2009.

Although Amnesty welcomed the news of the releases, a spokesperson highlighted the fact that many journalists and activists in Iran are still detained by authorities. See Amnesty.org.uk for more information.
