Dizzee Rascal and The XX installed as favourites for Barclaycard Mercury Prize

Dizzee Rascal and The xx have been immediately installed as joint favourites to win the Barclaycard Mercury Prize after the shortlist was announced this morning (July 20).

The pair lead the way with odds of 4/1, according to bookies William Hill.

Paul Weller, Corinne Bailey Rae, Mumford and Sons and Laura Marling all follow on 6/1, while Wild Beasts and Biffy Clyro are less fancied on 8/1.

Villagers, I Am Kloot and Kit Downes Trio are the outsiders on the initial odds, being quoted at 10/1 to win the prize on September 7.

Dizzee Rascal – 'Tongue N Cheek'
Kit Downes Trio – 'Golden'
Foals – 'Total Life Forever'

Mumford & Sons – 'Sigh No More'
Paul Weller – 'Wake Up The Nation'
Villagers – 'Becoming A Jackal'
Wild Beasts – 'Two Dancers'
The XX – 'XX'
