Glee to release 3D concert film in cinemas this summer

Live version of hugely successful TV show set for the big screen

A filmed version of the Glee live tour is to be released in cinemas later this year, in 3D.

The film, which is set to be titled Glee! Live! 3D!, will be shot during the show’s summer tour of North America. All 14 of the show’s regular cast members have signed up to perform.

According to Billboard, the film will be released in the USA on August 12 for a minimum of two weeks. A UK release date is expected to be confirmed shortly.

The film will be produced by Glee creator Ryan Murphy, who said of the release "This tour was all about going out and performing for our amazing fans who have supported our show from the beginning, but due to the limited time, there were only so many cities we could get to."

He continued: "We'll be able to bring the concert experience in full three dimensional glory."

The Glee tour visits the UK and Ireland in June, with shows booked in Manchester, London and Dublin.
