Producer Martin Rushent dies aged 63

Producer of The Human League's classic 'Dare' has died

Influential producer Martin Rushent has died at the age of 63.

Rushent was known for working with The Human League and The Stranglers during his varied career.

His son James, who is the guitarist for Does It Offend You, Yeah?, revealed that he passed away on Saturday on his Facebook page, according to BBC News.

Rushent started his career as an engineer in the 1970s, working on records by acts including Fleetwood Mac and T. Rex. He went on to produce The Human League's 1981 classic album 'Dare'.

He also worked with Buzzcocks, XTC, The Go-Gos and Altered Images.

Paying tribute to his father, James said: "I will miss him so, so much, he was my best mate." Meanwhile The Stranglers wrote a tribute on their official website, saying: "We have just received the sad news that another early band collaborator, Martin Rushent, passed away yesterday aged 63." Rushent produced all of their first three albums.

A Facebook page called Martin Rushent memories has been set up in his honour.
