The coroner investigating the cause of Amy Winehouse's death has said "there are no suspicious circumstances" involved in the singer's passing.

The formal inquest into Winehouse's death was opened this afternoon (July 25) at London's St. Pancras Coroner's Court and has now been adjourned for 12 weeks to allow the singer's family to conduct her funeral.

During the brief, two-minute hearing, a coroner's official only read out the name, birth date and address of Winehouse, who was described as "a divorced lady living at Camden Square, NW1", reports the Associated Press.

Coroner's official Sharon Duff confirmed during a statement that Winehouse's family had identified her body and that a post-mortem would be subsequently held, along with histology and toxicology tests, to determine Winehouse's cause of death.

Results from the post-mortem are expected tomorrow, with histology and toxicology tests expected to take much longer. The inquest will resume on October 26.
